MY LETTERS TO THE EDITOR JULY 2020/ PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS = ox¬∑y¬∑mo¬∑ron I am told that an oxymoron is a figure of speech in which apparentl contradictory terms appear in conjunction Peaceful demonstration when applied to racial protest is an oxymoron. As race riots engulf US almost all started out as "Peaceful Demonstrations. Almost all ended in riots and looting. 27 states and at least 200 cities including New York and Washington DC have gone under curfew in the United States, impacting more than 60 million residents, Recently an unprecedented 75,000 paramilitary forces ‚Äî called the National Guard ‚Äî were deployed across 31 states in the US. In contrast, there are roughly 9,000 US troops currently stationed in Afghanistan and 5,000 in Iraq, as per ABC News. While more than 10,000 have been arrested so far for protesting against racism and police brutality the world has also seen widespread scenes of rioting. As race riots engulf the U S we need to redefine "Peaceful Demonstrations Tom McGorray NW side" ====== ==================== JULY 20, 2020 Use lie detector to root out racists Can the polygraph weed racism out of law enforcement? I am told the FBI uses the polygraph to determine drug use as part of its recruiting process. I would think the polygraph would be helpful in law enforcement recruiting as well, if the right questions were asked. Such questions as: Do you use the ‚Äún word?‚Äù Have you committed a hate crime? Are whites superior to Blacks? Do you support the philosophy that Black lives matter? Are you empathetic to Blacks in America? Was MLK a good person? Do you have any close Black friends? This polygraph could also be given to all officers every five years. It would surely sensitize all police officers to the reality of racism among their ranks. Tom McGorray Northwest side ==================== SEPTEMBER 2020 A MAN OF HIS WORD I dislike Trump immensely. I don't like his personality or his style. However, as an independent and a conservative, I do believe he has kept his campaign promises. Few politicians can say the same. I evaluate politicians by what they do, not what they say they will do. He has improved the economy, cut taxes, fought illegal immigration, made reasonable trade deals, took on China, tried to make health care affordable to all, attacked opiod abuse, rebuilt the military, improved veterans care, been for law and order, returned religious liberty to America, help make criminal justice reform, waged war on terror, succeeded in bringing some peace to the Middle East, lowered the cost of prescription drugs, went after human trafficking, and has done more for blacks than any other president. Not bad for 3 years in office. Truly, a man of his word. Tom McGorray Northwestside ========================== FEBRUARY 10, 2021 DISAPPOINTMENT IN BIDEN"S LACKLUSTER CONDOLENCES As a registered independent and retired FBI agent (24 years) I am compelled to express my disgust with the comments made by the the current resident of the White House on the murder of two FBI agents and the wounding of three others who were in the service of protecting not only the citizens of this country but were working to protect the most vulnerable of our society...abused children His lackluster effort to offer condolences were nullified when he added "Every single day...by and large, the vast majority of these men and women are decent, honorable people who put their lives on the line. What a terrible thing to say at this time when families are suffering so deeply and the FBI family is in mourning. I guess ‚Äúall lives do TERRIBLE TIMING ============================= AUGUST 20, 2020 POLITICAL ISSUES SHOULD BE PARAMOUNT LETS VOTE ON ISSUES, not Personalities As a registered independent (conservative) I am neither a Trump lover or a Bidon hater.Presidential personalities have no bearing. I try to vote on issues. I am against the killing of babies, defunding our police illegal immigration, higher taxes, a weak military a welfare state, big government, socialism, riots and violence. Yes I am for letting babies live, supporting our police, reasonable border control, legal immigration a strong military, small businesses, and term liitations. Issues are all that matter. Tom McGorray Northwest Side ========================= APRIL 2021 POLITICAL JUSTICE It appears how the justice system treats you maybe influenced by your politics. We saw on TV a full SWAT team with tactical gear, helicopters and boats arrest a white collar criminal as though he was a dangerous drug kingpin or international terrorist. We see UNARMED individuals responsible for the riot at the capitol being held without bail while those accused of assault with a deadly weapon released with no bail. An unarmed woman shot by police for trespass. The DOJ stating there would be no grand jury investigating the case nor the officer's identity revealed. Now the FBI states the shooting at the ball field targeting Republican law makers was not an act of domestic terrorism but a case of mental illness, suicide by cop even though he fired 136 rounds. When people are treated differently because of their political beliefs, we have no justice system. I pray that this situation is rectified before it is too late. THOMAS MCGORRAY NW SIDE ========================= MAY 2021 (NOT PUBLISHED) THANK YOU OFFICER The week of May 9-15 2021 is National Law Enforcement Week. In honor of those law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Its purpose is to spread good will and educate the public about the professionalism of all law enforcement agencies, and to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. To date 22611 officers have been killed and their names are engraved on the National L E Officers Memorial in Wash DC.? The New York City Police Dept has lost the most officers with 954 deaths. The state of Texas holds the record with 2046 officers killed It is said when a law enforcement officer is killed not only does the agency lose a treasured resource but the entire country loses as well. These numbers are staggering, but don't even come close to measuring or help in understanding the level of violence on American streets or the challenges facing law enforcement on a daily basis. Thank you officer for keeping us safe. ==================== JULY 2021 GIVE CREDIT President Biden and his team have done a wonderful job of disseminating the various vacines throughout the US. President Trump and his team did a great job through operation Warp Speed. Operation Warp Speed (OWS)‚Äîa partnership between the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Defense (DOD)‚Äîaimed to help accelerate the development of a COVID-19 vaccine. GAO found that OWS and vaccine companies adopted several strategies to accelerate vaccine development and mitigate risk. Millions of lives have been saved The media in general, has refused to acknowledge this fact. Should we not give credit where credit is due? THOMAS MCGORRAY NW SIDE ==================== AUGUST 2021 With over 58,0000 federal employees in the stte, 48,000 teacers, 205,000 college students at our three Universities there is a trmendous there will be tremendous pressure to prove vaccinations The FBI said that misrepresenting the official seal of a U.S. agency, like the CDC logo on vaccine cards, could be a violation of federal law. Violators could face up to five years in prison or a $5,000 fine. Tucson, with Davis Monthan AFB, the University of Arizona, and the many teachersin our schoos there will be a problem to proove vacinations There is a need for a electronic data base The presure to keep ones job and career may trump our desire for honesty MASTERS OF DECEIT (Oct 7, 2021) We all presume that most politician lie or stretch the truth. However recent lying has become epidemic. President Bide said repeatedly that No one advised him to keep troops in Afghanistan. Two Generals and the Secretary of Defense all testified that they recommended to him to keep 2500 American troops in Afghanistan Biden has stated that Al Qaeda was no longer a threat in Afghanistan. We have learned otherwise. His spoke people have stated over and over that our borders a "Closed" and yet we see thousands crossing our borders daily. We are told there is no crisis at the border and yet our eyes tell us differently How many sick illegal aliens have been dispatched into our country. How many terrorist, rapist and felons. On the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, President Biden assured us that “if there’s American citizens left (on Aug. 31), we’re going to get them all out.” That wasn’t true. He told us that our allies had no problem with our hasty departure from Afghanistan. That wasn’t true, either. He told us that he “wouldn’t demand that [COVID vaccines] be mandatory.” That was before he thought they should be mandatory. He makes Pinocchio look like Mother Teresa. He and his press people are truly Masters of Deceit POLITICIANS AND POLITICS Many well known persons have talked about this subject with great clarity Concerning our crisis at the border and our desire to tax the rich to help the poor, Will Rogers said it best: "The Government which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always depend on the support of Paul.” Some have called our current leaders idiots Mark Twain was a head of his time when he wrote "Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Government. But then I repeat myself" And concerning the corruption on all levels of Government, Doug Larson warned: “Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be better to change the locks". But concerning voter fraud and unemployment encouragement George Bernard Shaw said it best: "The problem we face today is because the people that work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.
